Buddism: stop generating problems for yourself and everyone around you. Sit quietly until you figure out how to stop. Here are some hints in handy outline form. But that's the gist of it. There's some other stuff including a points system and costumed characters to make it attractive and some more detail if you want to go up your own ass. But it's mostly about ceasing to cause your own trouble. This has been your public service announcement for today.

If I were forced at gunpoint to choose a religion other than Buddhism, I would have to choose Judaism. For a religion, they put a lot of thought and consideration into their laws, and there is an awful lot of emphasis on common sense and the sanctity of all human life (including women, of all things!) and not being horribly Orwellian. I can't say these things about some other religions I know/have participated in.

Felis catus is your taxonomic nomenclature,
An endothermic quadruped, carnivorous by nature;
Your visual, olfactory, and auditory senses
Contribute to your hunting skills and natural defenses.

I find myself intrigued by your subvocal oscillations,
A singular development of cat communications
That obviates your basic hedonistic predilection
For a rhythmic stroking of your fur to demonstrate affection.

A tail is quite essential for your acrobatic talents;
You would not be so agile if you lacked its counterbalance.
And when not being utilized to aid in locomotion,
It often serves to illustrate the state of your emotion.

O Spot, the complex levels of behavior you display
Connote a fairly well-developed cognitive array.
And though you are not sentient, Spot, and do not comprehend,
I nonetheless consider you a true and valued friend.

My dad arrived today. Everyone else is tomorrow. Well it's already tomorrow. I'm up late still working on my dress.
We got a cleaning lady to scrub the bathroom which was a huge help. Dad paid for it which was a huge help. Still a lot of stuff to buy and we're precariously low on cash. Hilariously low on cash. Give up those wedding presents people!
Don't know how we're entertaining all these people on Friday.
It's kind of crazy to think this is actually happening.

The ancient buddhas taught the Dharma
Not for its own sake but to assist us.
If we really knew ourselves
We would not have to rely on old teachers.
The wise go right to the core
And leap beyond appearances;
The foolish cleave to details
And get ensnared by words and letters.
Such people envy the accomplishments of others
And work feverishly to attain the same things.
Cling to truth and it becomes falsehood;
Understand falsehood and it becomes truth.
Truth and falsehood are two sides of a coin:
Neither accept nor reject either one.
Don't waste your precious time fruitlessly
Trying to gauge the depths of life's ups and downs.

Good friends and excellent teachers;
Stick close to them!
Wealth and power are fleeting dreams
But wise words perfume the world for ages.
